As with any luxury sedan, it must make just as much of an impact under the hood as it does on the eyes. The Volvo S60 accomplishes this with its standard 2.0‑liter turbocharged four‑cylinder engine from its base T5 trim level that is paired with an eight‑speed automatic transmission. At its maximum, it can hit 250 horsepower and 258 pounds‑foot of torque. From there the power scales upward on the T6 model, which delivers a version of the 2.0‑liter engine that comes both turbocharged and supercharged. The result is a power output of 316 horsepower and 295 pounds‑foot that is topped only by the hybrid T8's 400 horsepower and 495 pounds‑foot of torque numbers.

What is also impressive about the Volvo S60 stand out is the fuel economy that comes with such power. If you select the front‑wheel drive model of the T5 or the T6, you'll get 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, all‑wheel‑drive models of these models clock in at 21 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. If it's the best fuel economy you're after, go straight for the T8 hybrid models which earn 74 mpg combined and 21 miles of all‑electric range.

The Volvo S60 features an interior that serves as a streamlined, yet stark contrast to the rest of its design. The Scandinavian inspiration speaks volumes thanks to its minimalist approach, choosing instead to emphasis its premium accents rather than overload you with features.

The S60 seats up to five passengers with the front seats being fully customizable with available features. The standard front seats are power‑adjustable with a leatherette upholstery for quality comfort, but they can be installed with features like full leather, heating, ventilation, and massaging. Additionally, you can get the available heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. In terms of cargo space, Volvo S60 owners can expect to get 11.56 cubic feet of space in the trunk.
